This beautiful Brazilian Walnut hardwood has a distribution throughout the continental tropical America and some the lesser Antilles. The tree grows on a variety of sites from ridge tops to riverbanks and marsh forest. Our hardwood deck is responsibly harvested from managed forest. We also support extensive replanting programs.

General Wood Deck Characteristics
A dark brown walnut color that gives a green dust when cut. The wood deck texture is fine to medium, while the trees may grow to 150 feet in height with trunk diameters of 6 feet. These trees grow frequently to heights of 100 ft and diameters of 2 to 3 feet. Boles are clear to 60 feet and more.

Weight
Basic specific gravity (ovendry weight / green volume) 0.85 to 0.97, air-dry density 66 to 75 pcf. A ¾" thick finish material weighs approximately 4 ½ pounds per square foot.

Bending Strength PSI: 22,560
Modulus of elasticity 1,000 PSI: 2,920
Maximum crushing strength PSI: 10,350

Janka side hardness
3,060 lbs for green material and 3,680 lbs at 12% moisture content. Forest products laboratory toughness average for green and dry material is 404 in. - lb (5/8" specimen).

Drying and shrinkage
Shrinkage green to ovendry: radial 6.6%; tangential 8.0%; volumetric 13.2%. Movement after manufacture is rated as small.

Working Properties
This wood deck has a blunting effect on cutters however it routs nicely. Please be sure to predrill your wood deck for fastening.

Durability
Our wood deck is very resistant to attack by decay fungi, mold and termites. As a result, your new wood deck will last over 40 years, even if untreated!
